Police Rescue Kidnapped Victim In Rivers, Arrest Two Suspects
Police said the victim was held for three days before his relatives paid N10.3 million, and investigators are still seeking four suspects.
On Monday, the Rivers State Police Command arrested two suspects linked to the September 6, 2026, kidnapping of Hassan near Fidelity Bank in Port Harcourt. The suspects are part of a six-man syndicate.
The six-man syndicate held Hassan captive at Igbugulu Waterside in Borikiri for three days before his relatives paid N10.3 million ransom to secure his release. The victim was abducted near Fidelity Bank on September 6, 2026.
Following an intelligence-led operation, the Violent Crime Response Unit identified the arrested men as Victor Ifeanyi, 24, aka 'Big Boby', and Aniekan Okon Michael, 36, aka 'Duff Man'. Both suspects confessed to their involvement.
ASP Blessing Agabe, the Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the command has intensified efforts to apprehend the remaining four members of the syndicate who are currently at large. Investigations are ongoing.
CP Olugbenga Adepoju, Rivers State Commissioner of Police, reiterated the command's commitment to intelligence-led operations while urging residents to provide credible information to dismantle criminal networks across the state. Public cooperation remains essential.
