WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Wilmington Police Department are investigating a stabbing that occurred within or around the parking lot of JCPenney at Independence Mall. According to police, a person who came from a nearby wooded area, was stabbed. After arriving on scene, police set up a perimeter in the parking lot near JC Penny. The Wilmington Police Department has released new details about a deadly stabbing that happened near Independence Mall Wednesday afternoon.

Police identify victim in Wednesday stabbing, arrest 35-year-old male

WILMINGTON — The man who died Wednesday in a stabbing near the mall has been identified by law enforcement as 47-year-old Anthony Todd Lane of Wilmington.
