Car Chase Across Massachusetts, New Hampshire Leads to Arrest of Maine Murder Suspect

- On Saturday morning, 55-year-old Dane Burke of Skowhegan was arrested around 10:30 a.m. after a multi-state pursuit that began in Lowell, Massachusetts and ended in Dunbarton, New Hampshire.
- On Wednesday, officers found Nicole Jackson, 46, dead at a West Front Street home in Skowhegan, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta ruled her death a homicide from blunt and sharp force trauma.
- A Lowell officer reported seeing the 2018 silver Jeep Compass on Princeton Boulevard at about 8 a.m., and radio traffic showed it reached speeds of 80 mph on I-93 passing through Dracut and Methuen.
- After the crash, Burke barricaded himself and the New Hampshire State Police SWAT Team deployed nonlethal munitions before taking him into custody; he was transported to Concord Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and will remain in New Hampshire custody pending extradition.
- The pursuit covered about 50 miles and drew a multi-agency response involving Massachusetts State Police and New Hampshire State Police; Route 13 near 91 Stark Highway in Dunbarton is closed, and local drivers were urged to avoid the area.
