'Sacrificed His Life for Others': Ga. Officer Killed in CDC Shooting Was Boston Native
ATLANTA, GEORGIA, AUG 11 – Officer David Rose died responding to a CVS shooting near CDC; the suspect had personal issues including fixation on the COVID-19 vaccine, officials said.
- On Friday, Officer David Rose of the DeKalb County Police Department was fatally shot while responding to an active shooter at CDC headquarters in Atlanta and later died at Emory University Hospital.
- Investigators say Patrick Joseph White distrusted the COVID-19 vaccine and believed it caused depression and suicidal thoughts.
- According to authorities, he fired on four CDC buildings, after White tried to enter the CDC campus with five guns including a long rifle.
- Supporters have donated nearly $150,000 to the GoFundMe campaign created by Mrs. Rose, with nearly $200,000 raised as of late Monday morning.
- According to the New York Times, he spent part of his childhood in Massachusetts, living in East Boston, Chestnut Hill, and Dorchester before moving to Atlanta at age 10.
