Police discover human remains connected to Simcoe, Ont., murder investigation

- Thursday, provincial police found human remains in a wooded area off Highway 6 in Haldimand County around 6 p.m., and police say they are linked to a Simcoe murder investigation.
- The discovery at a Head Street South home prompted police to charge Justin Morgan of Simcoe with second-degree murder after Barbara Morgan was found dead on Oct. 5.
- A 49-year-old Simcoe man is being sought after as officers search for Robert Sykes, last seen on Oct. 4, and police asked anyone in the area on Oct. 5 to report suspicious activity.
- Forensic teams including the OFPS and OPP Forensic Identification Services are supporting the Norfolk County OPP Crime Unit, which leads the probe with the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch and Office of the Chief Coroner.
- Justin Morgan remains in custody and was scheduled to appear in Simcoe court on Friday, with a return appearance set for Tuesday Oct. 21 at 9 a.m.
