Police Arrest 13-Year-Old After Masked Youth Disorder
Police said the boy was arrested on suspicion of riotous behaviour as officers investigated repeated disorder involving masked youths and attacks on vehicles.
On Tuesday, May 5, police arrested a 13-year-old boy in Derry on suspicion of riotous behaviour following disorder near Bishop Street. The youth was released on bail pending further enquiries.
The Police Service of Northern Ireland reported repeated anti-social behaviour involving 'masked youths' across Derry in recent weeks, affecting residents near Bishop Street, The Fountain, and Nailors Row.
Disturbances occurred on the evenings of April 20 and 21, as well as May 4 and 5, with individuals throwing petrol bombs, glass bottles, and fireworks at police vehicles.
Derry City and Strabane Inspector Ferriby said, "Bishop Street was closed temporarily to deal with the disorder," causing disruption to local communities as officers identify those involved.
