IN RELATION TO the Hajduk-Ajax match at Poljud, the Split-Dalmatia Police Department reported that no incidents with elements of violent behavior have been recorded so far today.
After the Split police confirmed that shouts with elements of punishable content were recorded during the cortege of local fans before the match between Hajduk and Ajax, the Split SDP also spoke out. In a strong statement, they condemned the anti-Semitic shouts and the glorification of fascism and demanded a reaction from Hajduk, the mayor, the police and the judiciary.
During the procession, some fans chanted "Tread, tread, tread on the Jews," "Auschwitz, Auschwitz," and "Staj, Adolf," as well as "Ajmo, ajmo, Ustashas." The procession set off at around 4:10 p.m., and at the head of the column was a car with a coffin bearing the words "Ajax." Anti-Semitic chants and glorification of Nazism marked the procession towards the stadium on the eve of the European match.
