Record Remittances: PM Heaps Praise on Overseas Pakistanis
June inflows reached $3.5 billion as Saudi Arabia, the UAE and the United Kingdom remained top sources, the SBP said.
On Thursday, the State Bank of Pakistan reported that workers' remittances reached a record $41.6 billion in FY26, an 8.6 per cent increase compared to FY25.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the inflows, stating the rise reflects overseas Pakistanis' confidence in government policies and assured them their welfare remains a priority.
Saudi Arabia remained the largest source at $9.783 billion, followed by the United Arab Emirates at $8.807 billion, the United Kingdom at $6.326 billion, and European Union countries at $5.227 billion.
After remittance volumes drew International Monetary Fund scrutiny, the SBP abolished two incentive schemes for banks, though experts anticipate minimal impact on bank profitability.
Concurrently, Pakistani IT exports surpassed $3 billion during the first 10 months of the current fiscal year, as remittances bolster the nation's balance of payments and foreign exchange buffers.
