PLS Lifts Pilgangoora Ore Reserves as Underground Lithium Inventory Grows
On Friday, PLS Group Ltd announced a A$650 million infrastructure investment plan for its flagship Pilgangoora Operation, spanning FY27 to FY29 to lower costs and boost productivity.
This investment supports the upcoming P2000 production expansion, positioning Pilgangoora to become the world's largest hard-rock lithium operation. Managing Director Dale Henderson said P2000 will "transform the scale and competitive position" of PLS.
Upgrades include a new 1,200-bed permanent village and purpose-built mine services facility for ultra-class equipment. The Western Australian government is contributing A$11 million to upgrade Wodgina Access Road, improving heavy-vehicle transport.
Premier Roger Cook stated the expansion will support about 1,000 construction jobs and create 500 ongoing roles. The project expands employment and contracting opportunities for Traditional Owners and local businesses across the Pilbara.
PLS reported updated ore reserves of 249.2 million tonnes, supporting a 20-year operating horizon on an open-pit basis. The expanded inventory reinforces long-term viability as the company targets 2029 production completion.
