While electric cars offer significant benefits for the climate and air quality, they also lead to an increase in car use. This is according to new research by the Netherlands Bureau for Economic Policy Analysis (CPB) and the Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency (PBL). According to key government advisors, the number of kilometers driven is increasing significantly, especially on weekends and among city dwellers.
