New Arrivals for Blackpool Zoo as First Lion Cubs Born in over a Decade

- Section Manager Adam Kenyon noted that Hira chose to give birth outside during the daytime, requiring temporary visitor restrictions. "We know visitors will be excited to meet the cubs, but their welfare has to come first," Kenyon said.
- African lions are classified as vulnerable in the wild, with populations declining "significantly" over recent decades due to habitat loss, human-wildlife conflict, and reduced natural prey.
