Pinson enacts yearlong data center moratorium as officials study impacts

Pinson City Council enacted a one-year moratorium on new data center proposals Thursday night. The measure gives the council time to review zoning ordinances for data centers and assess their potential impact on the city. “So, the data centers that we normally refer to are just that: colocation facilities where you don’t have to spend extra money on real estate, brick and mortar to house your own equipment,” Councilor Brad Walker said.
