While several million pine trees burned by the megafire this summer will no longer pump water on the watershed, the Arcachon Basin Intercommunal Union took stock of its actions
Some 37,000 hectares of forest were destroyed this summer by a giant fire in Gironde. Millions of trees that were absorbing water have thus disappeared. The municipalities of the Arcachon basin fear flooding this winter. - "Pines no longer pump water": after the forest fires this summer, the Arcachon basin fears floods (Environment).
The SIBA (Arcachon Basin Intercommunal Union) presented on Tuesday, 8 September, the actions launched since the summer fires, aimed in particular at carrying out urgent measures to prevent flooding.
