Pinea Pi to launch first edge AI node
The campaign offers Lite and Pro models with local inference, no cloud subscription and early-bird pricing from $1,999, the company said.
NEW YORK-based hardware pioneer Pinea Pi announced its first edge AI node will launch on Kickstarter in late September, with the campaign running through late October.
Pinea Pi builds edge AI nodes that work offline with auditable privacy, serving Independent professionals and Makers by ensuring sensitive data never leaves the hardware.
Both ship with Ubuntu and a complete edge AI software stack, with early-bird pricing at $1,999 for Lite with 180 TOPS of Intel performance and $2,999 for Pro featuring 275 TOPS of NVIDIA performance.
Multimodal-Native capabilities allow the device to see, hear, and think locally, while the built-in AI companion Piny recognizes owners by face and voice using the MiniCPM model family.
Starting in late Aug, early supporters can reserve units with a $30 deposit, a one-time hardware investment that replaces monthly cloud API costs for AI developers running open-source models locally.
