The cause of the Pickett Fire is still unknown, but audio from fire dispatch suggests it stemmed from a controlled burn. In a statement to ABC7 News, a spokesperson for Hundred Acres Wines confirmed that the fire started on or near vineyard property.

During a Wednesday night Cal Fire briefing on the blaze, Napa County Ag Commissioner Tracy Cleveland said 1,500 acres of crops were damaged or destroyed in the fire, accounting for around 3% of Napa Valley’s total production acreage.
