By so-called "phishing scams" criminals already caused a damage of 19 million euros this year.
Phishing, i.e. the spying out of passwords and subsequent capture of assets, has already caused damages of 19 million euros in Austria this year. 5,000 cases have been counted so far, as Federal Criminal Office head Andreas Holzer announced on Friday on the occasion of the launch of the action "10 days against Phishing".
This year alone, more than 5,000 cases of phishing have been reported to the Federal Criminal Office. With an action "10 days against phishing" the Interior Ministry wants to show the attackers "teeth". Nevertheless, an investigation proves in most cases to be "extremely difficult".
In connection with phishing fraud - the spying out of passwords and the subsequent capture of assets of accounts - a police damage of 19 million euros has already been done this year. 5,000 cases have been counted so far. This was announced by the head of the Federal Criminal Office, Andreas Holzer, on Friday on the occasion of the launch of the action "10 days against phishing" at a press meeting in the Ministry of the Interior.
