Suspended Phillies OF Johan Rojas Needs Elbow Surgery, Will Be Out Until Spring Training
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Johan Rojas will miss the remainder of the 2026 season due to a right ulnar collateral ligament tear requiring surgical repair, the team announced Wednesday.
Rojas was serving an 80-game suspension after testing positive for Boldenone in March and was nearing his June 25 return when he reported right elbow discomfort while ramping up baseball activities.
The Phillies said surgery is scheduled "in the next couple of weeks," with the team expecting the 25-year-old to be at full strength for spring training next season.
His absence removes an outfield depth option for the remainder of the regular season. Rookie Justin Crawford serves as the primary center fielder, with Brandon Marsh and Steward Berroa available as alternatives.
Over 250 career games with the Phillies, Rojas has amassed six homers, 73 RBIs, and 51 stolen bases. In 71 games during 2025, he hit.224 with one home run and 18 RBIs.
