Flyers Notebook: Given History with Philly, Carter Hart Eschews Return

On Thursday in Philadelphia, Vegas coach Bruce Cassidy said Carter Hart will not start against the Flyers, with Akira Schmid, who shut out the Devils Friday, starting instead.
Coach Bruce Cassidy said the Vegas coaching staff planned a two-of-three goalie rotation and discussed workload with Carter Hart, noting, 'Carter wants to play every game. He's a very competitive guy.'
Hart's recent record shows he has played three games since being reinstated on December 1, going 2-0-1 and saving 72 of 81 shots.
Hart is expected to start on Saturday in Columbus after Vegas had started him in back-to-back games, including Tuesday's 5-4 shootout loss to the New York Islanders.
After being charged on Jan. 30, 2024, Carter Hart was acquitted this summer and declined offers from several NHL teams, telling Flyers GM Danny Briere he wanted a fresh start.
