The Peruvian government extended, for thirty days, the state of emergency declared in the city of Lima, capital of Peru, and the neighboring province of Callao to confront organized crime and other incidents of violence, a measure adopted last October by interim president José Jerí, according to a supreme decree published this Saturday in the official newspaper El Peruano.
The Executive decided to extend the state of emergency in districts of the regions of Ayacucho, Cusco and Junn for the period of 60 d as calendar.
The expansion continues the restriction of rights and the presence of the Armed Forces in support of the Peruvian National Police.
The Executive justified the decision on the need to protect the population from the increase in crime.
