The Constitutional Court has rejected a proposal by Svoboda, SD and Levica to temporarily suspend amendments to the Local Elections Act. The amendment removed the right to vote for third-country nationals with permanent residence in Slovenia.
The Constitutional Court has rejected a proposal by Svoboda, SD and Levica to temporarily suspend the amendment to the Local Elections Act, which removed the right to vote from third-country nationals who have a permanent residence permit and registered permanent residence in Slovenia. They will therefore not have the right to vote in the local elections on November 15.
The Constitutional Court has refused to suspend Article 1 of the Act on Amendments to the Local Elections Act. This Act deprived permanent residents of Slovenia who are citizens of non-EU countries of the right to vote in local elections. The latter will not have the right to vote in the local elections on 15 November this year.
