From 2026, pensions will rise, but not all will receive full inflation compensation. PVÖ Steiermark speaks of a "partial success" and warns against falling purchasing power and old age poverty. The Federal Government has agreed on a phased pension adjustment: pensions up to 2,500 euros will be increased by 2.7 percent in 2025 – and thus in full inflation – for higher salaries there is a fixed amount of 67.50 euros. The coalition will present the pension adjustment for the coming year on Friday. Reportedly, only pensions up to €2,500 will be fully offset against inflation of 2.7 percent. Pensions above that amount will be increased by a fixed amount. Thus, in percentage terms, the increase becomes smaller the higher the pension. Representatives of senior citizens made it clear on Thursday that they disagree with the agreement.

The tripartite coalition sets the pension adjustment alone. The details are not yet known. Gerstorfer and Korosec, representatives of the elderly, still wanted to "prevent the worst.
