Man in his 70s dies following tractor crash

  • On Friday evening, 77-year-old Dessie Sheridan died following a single-vehicle tractor crash in the Fintona area outside Omagh, Tyrone.
  • PSNI Officers, along with The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service and Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service, responded to the collision involving a red Massey Ferguson 185 tractor around 6pm.
  • Detective Inspector Dave Stewart from the Collision Investigation Unit confirmed the fatality at the scene. "Sadly, Mr Sheridan was pronounced deceased at the scene," he said.
  • The Tullycunny Road remained closed for "much of today" to facilitate the investigation as Officers appealed for witnesses and dashcam footage via 101 or Crimestoppers.
  • Friday's fatality brings the number of people killed on Northern Ireland's roads to 32 this year, an increase of 11 from 21 deaths at the same time last year.
