Reports: Celtics Ink Pritchard to New 2-Year Deal
The Sixth Man of the Year averaged career highs of 17.2 points, 5.2 assists and 3.9 rebounds last season.
On Tuesday, the Boston Celtics and guard Payton Pritchard agreed to a two-year, $44.2 million contract extension that secures the 2025 NBA Sixth Man of the Year through the 2028-29 season.
Pritchard, 28, earned the extension after delivering the best season of his six-year career in 2025-26, averaging career highs with 17.0 points, 5.2 assists, and 3.9 rebounds per game.
Known for durability, the 6-foot-1 guard has appeared in 426 games since being drafted 26th overall in 2020, building on his previous four-year, $30 million pact viewed as team-friendly.
With the extension finalized, the Celtics prepare for their October 20 season opener against the Detroit Pistons, with Pritchard positioned as a core backcourt piece after increasing his touches to nearly 70 per game.
Pritchard will earn over $21 million for the 2028-29 season, with the final year including a mutual option worth nearly $23 million that provides flexibility for both parties.
