Paul Pelosi Charged With Misdemeanor Hit-and-Run in Napa Valley
Prosecutors said the 86-year-old also faces an unlawful-turn infraction after allegedly striking a parked vehicle and leaving the scene.
Prosecutors in Napa County charged Paul Pelosi, husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, with misdemeanor hit-and-run and an unlawful-turn infraction following a July 3 crash in Yountville where he allegedly struck an unoccupied parked vehicle.
The Napa County Sheriff reported that police located Pelosi nearby in a car with "significant damage" consistent with the recent crash, while authorities confirmed he had no alcohol in his system at the time.
Pelosi faces a maximum penalty of a $1,000 fine or six months in county jail for the misdemeanor hit-and-run charge, with a court appearance scheduled for August 14.
A spokesperson for the Pelosis stated that "Mr. Paul Pelosi has personally apologized to the owner of the vehicle and assured them that he would take responsibility for the damage," while Nancy Pelosi declined further comment.
This incident follows a 2022 guilty plea for misdemeanor DUI in Napa County, where Pelosi received three years of probation and paid about $5,000 in victim restitution and fines.
