Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce accused of minimizing role in steakhouse lawsuit
1587 Sneakers says the Chiefs stars were the driving force behind the mark as the company argues it started selling products in April 2023.
On Aug. 4, 1587 Sneakers filed an opposition accusing Kansas City Chiefs stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce of downplaying their involvement in the 1587 Prime steakhouse amid a trademark infringement lawsuit.
The steakhouse, which opened Sept. 17, 2025, was co-founded by Mahomes and Kelce in partnership with Noble 33, with the name '1587' derived from their respective jersey numbers, 15 and 87.
Court filings allege both Defendants played an active personal role as the 'moving forces' of the mark, contradicting their motion claiming they are merely 'distant celebrities' without New York ties.
Records show the company did not apply for the '1587' trademark until October 2025, and the application remains under review by the Trademark Office, per Statement 4.
1587 Sneakers, which began selling products on April 13, 2023, filed the ongoing trademark infringement lawsuit in New York, where the athletes contend they lack control or business ties.
