PM Sets Sail on River Brahmaputra on Cruise Ship to Interact with Students During 'Pariksha Pe Charcha' Programme in Assam.
Prime Minister Modi advised 25 Assam students on exam stress and mental well-being during the annual Pariksha Pe Charcha program aboard a Brahmaputra cruise.
- During the second day of his Assam visit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi boarded the three-deck 'M V Charaidew 2' on the river Brahmaputra and interacted with students during Pariksha Pe Charcha.
- Pariksha Pe Charcha, held annually since 2018, aims to reduce exam stress and encourage open discussion, and Modi arrived at the Guwahati Gateway Terminal, inaugurated recently by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, boarding via the floating bridge.
- Selected students represent a mix of government, residential and private schools, including Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas, Kendriya Vidyalayas, Assam Jatiya Bidyalay, Don Bosco institutions and Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas.
- Heightened security and operational disruption accompanied the visit as ferry services on the Brahmaputra were suspended for two days since Saturday and River Police, NDRF and SDRF patrolled the river since early morning.
- Officials say the cruise could catalyse river tourism in Assam, and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma noted last year's Kaziranga visit spurred tourist footfalls, so the same is expected for river tourism.
