Palisades Village Celebrates Reopening After Devastating Wildfire

Most former tenants are returning, while about one-third of the businesses are new after more than $100 million in fire repairs.

  • Developer Rick Caruso hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony Saturday to reopen Palisades Village, 19 months after the deadly Palisades Fire devastated the coastal community.
  • The January 2025 wildfire destroyed 6,822 structures, including more than 5,500 homes, leaving the 125,000-square-foot Palisades Village with extensive smoke and water damage requiring more than $100 million in renovations.
  • Returning businesses like Erewhon and new tenants including chef Nancy Silverton's Italian steakhouse Spacca Tutto fill the $200 million center, now 99% leased, serving what resident Julian Bostic calls an "incredibly important part of our existence here in the Palisades."
  • Mayor Karen Bass called the reopening a "critical milestone," while collaborative public-private partnerships facilitated infrastructure improvements near Sunset Boulevard, including road repairs and streetlight fixes.
  • The city Board of Public Works unanimously approved the Pacific Palisades Streetscape and Beautification Project to advance revitalization, though community leaders estimate full reconstruction will take five years.
