Palestinians commemorate Land Day, remember sacrifices
The first Land Day took place on March 30, 1976, in the Galilee village of Tamra. Six Palestinian citizens were killed when Israeli police and soldiers attacked protesters. The 1973 Yom Kippur War restored much of the Arab national honor that had crumbled following the 1967 war. Tawfiq Zayyad was the most important of the young generation of Palestinians born after the Nakba.
