Mother Pleads For Help Finding Daughter Missing After Trip With Boyfriend
Police say Alyssa M. Smith has been missing since Sept. 27, and detectives are following up on possible sightings and public tips.
The Palatine Police Department is searching for 24-year-old Alyssa Smith, who was reported missing on September 30 after traveling to Chicago with her boyfriend. Detectives are actively investigating her whereabouts and following up on all information regarding possible sightings.
Smith traveled to Chicago with her boyfriend, who returned home without her, according to family members. Authorities have not identified him as a suspect, though Rebecca Smith stated he changed his account of events multiple times.
Police are investigating reports that Smith was seen near Grant Park on October 3 and in West Garfield Park. Authorities previously identified her in body camera footage near Garfield Park on September 28, but subsequent reports remain unconfirmed.
Rebecca described her daughter as a "free spirit" with "a big heart," urging the public to contact police directly. Authorities describe Smith as 135 to 140 pounds with a "Pennywise" clown tattoo on her left shoulder.
Anyone with information regarding Smith's whereabouts should contact Palatine Police Detectives at 847-359-9000 or call 911. Police advise the public not to approach or attempt to detain her if she is spotted, but to contact law enforcement immediately.
