Pakistan, Russia Agree to Sign MoU to Combat Organised Crime, Finalise Prisoner Transfer Agreement
The countries will also finalize extradition and prisoner transfer agreements as they expand cooperation against cybercrime, drug trafficking and illegal migration.
On Wednesday, Russian Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev and Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding on organized crime and prisoner transfers in Islamabad.
Kolokoltsev arrived in Pakistan on Monday for a four-day visit at Naqvi's invitation, where the ministers discussed strengthening institutional coordination and bilateral engagement through shared law enforcement experience.
Both sides agreed to enhance Anti-Narcotics Force coordination and strengthen links between the National Police Academy and its Russian counterpart, while Kolokoltsev noted that Russia successfully reduced cybercrime by 33%.
The meeting resulted in decisions to finalize extradition and prisoner transfer agreements, alongside a commitment to implement a readmission agreement to combat illegal migration and ease visa procedures.
Working groups from both interior ministries will visit each other soon to solidify institutional ties, while discussions also addressed facilitating skilled Pakistani workers and expanding educational opportunities for students.
