Packers backup QB Tyrod Taylor spending offseason building his relationship with Jordan Love
Taylor and Love are learning each other as Green Bay seeks a reliable backup and another Super Bowl run, coach Luke Getsy said.
Green Bay Packers quarterback Tyrod Taylor is spending the offseason building a relationship with starter Jordan Love. The 16th-year veteran, who signed with the team last month, is prioritizing communication to establish trust between the pair.
Following the departure of backup quarterback Malik Willis to the Miami Dolphins, the Packers signed Taylor as an ideal replacement. The team also released quarterback Desmond Ridder, who previously started for Atlanta and Las Vegas.
Quarterbacks coach Luke Getsy praised Taylor's immediate impact, saying, "The cool part when he walked in the room, you could feel the presence, the confidence, the composure." Taylor completed 59.7% of his passes for the Jets last season.
Emphasizing their collaborative approach, Taylor stated, "We're each other's eyes when we're not on the field." Love values the veteran's experience, allowing him to "piggyback off" Taylor's knowledge of different offenses.
Aiming for another Super Bowl victory, the veteran believes the current roster has the right mindset. "Every team, this time of year, feels they have the pieces to do so," Taylor said, emphasizing the importance of daily work and health.
