Pac-12 returns to the football field with 8 teams following years of uncertainty
The rebuilt league adds six programs and a new television deal as it tries to improve College Football Playoff access and national visibility.
On Thursday, the Pac-12 officially rebooted with eight teams, adding Boise State, Colorado State, San Diego State, Utah State, Texas State, and Fresno State to holdovers Oregon State and Washington State.
A new television deal ensures every game airs on linear TV, allowing the entire country to watch "Pac-12 After Dark" instead of searching multiple platforms for matchups.
To strengthen College Football Playoff chances, the Pac-12 will utilize "flex" games the final week of the regular season, with select schools hosting to ensure every team has four conference home games.
Boise State enters its first season in the Pac-12 as the title favorite, returning quarterback Maddux Madsen, who threw for 2,334 yards and 18 touchdowns last season.
As the conference seeks to regain stability, three new coaches arrive, including Colorado State head coach Jim Mora and Oregon State head coach JaMarcus Shephard, after two seasons of significant turnover.
