Burlington Stores Relocating Headquarters From New Jersey to Philadelphia
The move includes a hundreds-of-millions-dollar investment and state and city incentives, with officials saying it will be the largest headquarters relocation in years.
On Thursday, Burlington Stores announced plans to relocate its corporate headquarters to 3151 Market St. in Philadelphia's Schuylkill Yards, investing $370 million to create at least 2,000 jobs over five years.
Burlington CEO Michael O'Sullivan said the company outgrew its long-time New Jersey campus, citing Philadelphia's "energy, talent, and infrastructure" as reasons for selecting the city as its new home.
State and city incentives totaling $37 million will support the project: Pennsylvania is investing $30 million in grants, while Philadelphia provides a $7 million forgivable loan and tax credits, plus SEPTA offers discounted commuter benefits.
Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker noted approximately 1,600 employees will relocate to the city, while Brandywine Realty Trust CEO Jerry Sweeney called the investment a validation of Schuylkill Yards as a hub for world-class talent and collaboration.
Burlington will occupy the 14-story property by late 2028 or early 2029, supporting the retailer's rapid expansion across roughly 1,300 stores in 47 states, with 115 new locations opening this year alone.
