In the second set, Rublev had three set points in Virtanen's serve, but the Finn weathered the storm with a few cannonballs and won the tiebreak 7–0. But it was the Russian who had the last word in the US Open when he won 3–2 after 10-5 in the final tiebreak in the fifth set.
