Osun poll: Adeleke accuses APC, Oyetola of plans to rig election
Adeleke said Oyetola’s remarks point to an APC plan to undermine the vote, as the governor urged a transparent election and warned of an open threat.
- On Sunday, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke accused Minister of Marine and Blue Economy Adegboyega Oyetola of plotting to manipulate the August 15 governorship election, describing Oyetola's remarks as an "open threat" to electoral credibility.
- Following remarks Oyetola made Saturday while addressing All Progressives Congress supporters, the former governor used the Yoruba phrase "A maa gba lowo e," meaning "we will snatch it from him," which Adeleke claimed signals intent to undermine the vote.
- Separately, the Imole Campaign Council alleged on Monday that the All Progressives Congress is pressuring the Independent National Electoral Commission to end voting by 12 noon in governor strongholds, urging election observers to monitor closely.
- Adeleke, seeking re-election against 13 candidates including All Progressives Congress nominee Bola Oyebamiji, rejected substandard infrastructure claims and highlighted his administration's construction of about 350 kilometres of roads across the state.
- The August 15 election serves as a precursor to 2027 general elections, with Adeleke maintaining confidence in victory despite Oyetola's earlier assertions and the All Progressives Congress's prior attempts to exclude his party from the ballot.
