Oregon Shuts Out Texas Tech to Clinch First CFP Semifinal Berth Since 2014

On Thursday, the Oregon Ducks defeated the Texas Tech Red Raiders 23-0 at the Orange Bowl at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, clinching a College Football Playoff semifinal berth.
After repeated Texas Tech mistakes, Oregon's defense forced four turnovers, with Brandon Finney Jr. producing three takeaways and Matayo Uiagalelei forcing a key strip Thursday.
Atticus Sappington opened the scoring with a 50-yard field goal and later added a 39-yard kick, while Matayo Uiagalelei stripped Behren Morton early in the third and Jordon Davison scored immediately after.
With the win, the Ducks have tied the school record for wins and will appear in the Peach Bowl semifinal in Atlanta on Jan.9.
As rare results go, Texas Tech Red Raiders entered Thursday second nationally in points and fifth in yards per game at 480.3 yet was held scoreless by Oregon's defense, becoming just the third team in CFP history to do so.
