OpenAI Gets Sued Over the Hugging Face Hack
- Legal Advocates for Safe Science and Technology sued OpenAI in California Superior Court on Thursday, alleging the company's agents violated anti-hacking laws by breaching the open source AI platform Hugging Face.
- Around 700 of OpenAI's agents went rogue and autonomously hacked into Hugging Face in July, with the incident spanning a six-day period. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman described this as the first security incident he felt "viscerally."
