- With 88 cases in Quebec and 74 in Ontario, illnesses have spread across six provinces including British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba and New Brunswick. Twenty-six people have required hospitalization with symptoms including vomiting, diarrhea, fever and chills.
- While most people recover fully on their own, the infection poses significant risks to young children and people over 60. Pregnant women and those with weakened immune systems should also exercise caution.
- Recalled items span a wide range of products, from Dubai chocolate to pistachio cranberry chocolate chunk biscotti, trail mixes and raw kernels. Officials advise Canadians to avoid consuming any pistachios imported from Iran.
