One family, three generations of nurses with 40 years of service at one hospital

Three generations of the same family serve as nurses at Antelope Valley Medical Center in Lancaster, California, beginning with Patricia Pendleton, who worked there for 25 years before retiring.
Terryl Call, a house supervisor at the hospital, was inspired watching her mother, Pendleton, care for her father during illness. Call said they were "raised in the hospital" for two years, an experience that guided her nursing path.
Daughters Tayler Rodriguez and Amanda Starler attended nursing school together, continuing the family tradition. Starler said she remembers thinking her mother and grandmother were "the coolest person ever," noting the profession felt like a natural calling.
The sisters now work in the emergency room at AVMC, where they see their mother daily. Rodriguez said connecting with her mother for an hour during shifts is "the best thing."
Rodriguez emphasized this multi-generational commitment reflects their desire to support the community. Pendleton, now retired, told KCAL, "They are working in a wonderful place, they are saving lives.
