Overnight police incident in Burnaby Heights confirmed fatal, still under wraps
The Independent Investigations Office of British Columbia is probing a fatal police-involved incident that led to a large police response and area lockdown in Burnaby Heights.

- Images from the scene show a major police presence with officers approaching at least one residence as the Burnaby RCMP shut down several blocks from Cambridge Street to Dundas Street, between Gilmore Avenue and North Carleton Avenue.

- Neighbours told local outlets they heard gunfire, with one saying his wife heard gunfire shortly before 8 p.m., and residents described the episode as `unnerving` and `ominous`, Kerry Ervin said.
