Tesla Dominates JD Power EV Satisfaction Ranking, Grabbing Top Two Spots
JD Power's 2026 study found 96% of US EV owners plan to buy another electric vehicle despite the expired $7,500 federal tax credit, driven by improved tech and satisfaction scores.
- Recently, JD Power's 2026 US EVX Ownership Study found 96% of U.S. electric-vehicle owners said they would consider buying or leasing another EV.
- Wider charging access, including NACS-based Supercharger access, and improvements in battery tech and vehicle performance drove satisfaction, JD Power says.
- The highest-rated models were the Tesla Model 3 and Model Y, with scores of 804 and 797, followed by the BMW i4 at 795 and BMW iX at 794.
- Brent Gruber noted that after the tax-credit change, EV market share declined sharply but Tesla drivers, who initially reported Supercharger crowding, are starting to acclimate, JD Power said.
- In its sixth year, the JD Power EVX Ownership Study shows 5,741 EV and PHEV owners were surveyed, with premium and mass-market EV scores rising to 652 and 511.
