On this day in 1997: Timothy McVeigh found guilty in Oklahoma City bombing case
Jurors found McVeigh guilty of 11 counts, including murder and using a weapon of mass destruction, in the 1995 bombing that killed 168 people.
Twenty-Nine years ago, jurors convicted Timothy McVeigh on 11 counts of murder, conspiracy, and using a weapon of mass destruction for his role in the Oklahoma City bombing.
The 1995 bombing at the Alfred Murrah Federal Building killed 168 people, including 19 children, and damaged more than 300 nearby buildings.
Associated with the militant Patriot movement, McVeigh targeted the building to avenge the raid on Waco, Texas, claiming federal law enforcement agents murdered the Weavers at Ruby Ridge.
On Dec. 23, 1997, jurors convicted accomplice Terry Nichols for his role in the conspiracy, later sentencing him to 161 consecutive life terms without the possibility of parole.
The Oklahoma City National Memorial and Museum honors the victims of what is referred to as "the worst act of homegrown terrorism in the nation's history.
