Couple Celebrates 30 Years on Airline Where They First Met
The couple met after a five-hour delay and later built a family with six children and a painting company.
On Thursday, Jeffrey and Salesia Larson celebrated their 30th anniversary by recreating the Southwest flight that sparked their relationship decades ago.
A five-hour delay on a standby flight in Kansas City brought Jeffrey Larson and Salesia together in 1996, after he drove more than 400 miles from Minneapolis to catch the flight.
That initial flight led to a first date in Phoenix, where Jeffrey wrote a poem on a napkin complimenting Salesia's smile, a keepsake she still treasures.
Their daughter Gracie said the couple built a life with six children and a painting company, crediting their success to "kindness and the effort that they put into one another."
Salesia reflected that Southwest's former open seating policy enabled such random, life-changing meetings, saying "They should've kept that open seating so that people can meet randomly like that.
