Canadian Olympians Named 2026 Calgary Stampede Parade Marshals
The Olympic medallists will ride horseback to open the 10-day Stampede after standout performances in Milano-Cortina, organizers said.
- On Wednesday, Olympic medalists Mikael Kingsbury and Courtney Sarault were named honorary marshals for the Calgary Stampede Parade, which kicks off the 10-day exhibition on July 3.
- The Stampede selected these athletes for their historic performances at the 2026 Milano Cortina Olympic Winter Games, where Kingsbury became the most decorated male freestyle skier in history and Sarault secured four medals.
- Limited horse-riding experience hasn't deterred Kingsbury, who said, "I'm not a cowboy but I will be for that day, definitely." Sarault added, "I want to be western-theme everything."
- The parade begins at 9 a.m. on Friday, July 3, with a prelude at 7:30 a.m., followed by free admission to Stampede Park from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Stampede president Stuart noted the event has a long tradition of celebrating Olympians as fitting ambassadors, continuing a legacy that included country music star Shania Twain as last summer's marshal.
