- Liu's double-gold performance at Milan‑Cortina prompted the civic celebration, as she captured gold in the women's singles event and team figure skating event, becoming the first American woman since 2002.
- The program featured local artists, student tributes and national performers including Kehlani, Abayomi, Chinatown dragon dancers and TURFinc, while Kristi Yamaguchi, Andre Ward and Mayor Barbara Lee presented honors.
