Olivia Rodrigo shows support for Amy Acton at Columbus concert
The singer wore the shirt after urging the crowd to vote, putting Acton’s name before thousands as the governor’s race centers on her childhood.
Pop star Olivia Rodrigo wore a shirt reading "Dr. Amy Acton for Governor" during her Thursday, Oct. 29 concert at the Schottenstein Center in Columbus, displaying support for the Democratic gubernatorial candidate.
Rodrigo's endorsement follows a controversial campaign ad from Republican candidate Vivek Ramaswamy featuring Acton's estranged mother, Donna Arthur, who called her daughter a "liar" while urging voters to reject her.
Critics including Acton's brother Philip Stearns and Republican Governor Mike DeWine rebuked the ad for exploiting her childhood abuse at 12 years old, drawing bipartisan condemnation.
Acton's campaign shared photos on social media, writing "Ohio loves you." Rodrigo also encouraged concertgoers to vote, having previously raised $20 million for women's charities.
Voters head to the polls on Tuesday, Nov. 3 to decide the race. Recent polling shows Acton with a seven-point lead over Ramaswamy in the closely watched gubernatorial contest.
