Oklahoma Man Pleads Guilty to Social Media Threats to Kill Trump
Howard Gimmey admitted posting a social media threat against President Donald Trump and faces up to 5 years in federal prison.
On Tuesday, 47-year-old Howard Raymond Gimmey of Midwest City pleaded guilty to threatening to kill President Donald Trump, admitting he posted, "I'm going to kill the president."
Gimmey posted the threatening message on social media on May 5, 2026; a federal grand jury charged him on October 6 for communicating the threat in interstate commerce.
The FBI Oklahoma City's Joint Terrorism Task Force, the United States Secret Service, and the Midwest City Police Department investigated the case, which authorities alleged Gimmey intended as a threat to peers.
While no sentencing date has been set, Gimmey faces up to five years in federal prison and a fine of up to $250,000 for the conviction.
The Department of Justice stated the case falls under the National Security Presidential Memorandum 7 initiative, a 2025 White House directive aimed at preventing domestic terrorism and political violence.
