Jim Tressel to Be Enshrined in Ohio Stadium Ring of Honor
Tressel will join Woody Hayes and Paul Brown as the only Buckeyes coaches in the Ring of Honor, and Ohio State says he is the first honoree since 2014.
- On Tuesday, Ohio State University announced that former Ohio State Head Football Coach Jim Tressel will be enshrined in the Ohio Stadium Ring of Honor during the season opener against Ball State on September 5.
- Tressel led the Buckeyes from 2001 to 2010, compiling a 106-23 record with six Big Ten titles and the 2002 national championship.
- Joining Paul Brown and Woody Hayes as the only other coaches honored, Tressel said, "To be recognized alongside these men is truly humbling."
- While his tenure ended following the 2011 'Tattoo Gate' scandal, Ohio State athletic director Ross Bjork praised his lasting impact, saying his leadership "set him apart" in university history.
- Currently serving as Ohio's Lieutenant Governor, Tressel continues mentoring youth through the Team Tressel Fitness Challenge, promoting physical and emotional development in children statewide.
