More than 40 Zombie Knives and Machetes Seized with Creepy Mask in M6 Stop
Officers recovered zombie knives, machetes and knuckledusters after ANPR linked the vehicle to weapons offences, and two Birmingham occupants were arrested.
On Thursday, May 28, Cheshire Police stopped a Volkswagen Polo near the Sandbach Interchange on the M6 after ANPR enquiries linked the vehicle to weapons offences.
The stop occurred shortly after the Cheshire Constabulary concluded Operation Sceptre, a weeklong national campaign during which officers recovered over 250 weapons from across Cheshire.
Officers discovered "several boxes" inside the vehicle containing zombie-style knives, machetes, and knuckledusters; a 19-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman from Birmingham were arrested on suspicion of possessing offensive weapons.
Following the investigation, the 19-year-old man has been "eliminated" from the inquiry, while the 18-year-old woman has been released on conditional bail.
Chief Inspector Joe McNally, Cheshire Constabulary's knife crime lead, confirmed the 40 blades will soon be destroyed, "permanently preventing possibility of them being used on our streets.
