Police say officers who shot Kalgoorlie man acted in accordance with their training

A 58-year-old man was shot by police in a laneway in South Kalgoorlie, 600km east of Perth, just after midday yesterday. Officers attended the scene after receiving reports of an armed man in the area. Assistant Commissioner Darryl Gaunt said cameras worn by the three officers first on scene showed the man, who was armed with a handgun, squatting some distance down the laneway. He said the man ran towards officers, ignoring multiple warnings, before he was shot.
